From May 20 to 23 of this year, as part of the latest media campaign to raise public awareness and educate the public on deposit and savings insurance, the Fund held informational and explanatory events for representatives of credit institutions participating in the Fund and their branches in key regions of the Republic of Tajikistan (Khujand, Bokhtar, Kulyab, and Garm).
These activities were aimed at achieving the following objectives:
Informing employees: disseminating necessary information to employees of head offices and regional branches of credit institutions about the main indicators of the deposit and savings insurance system;
Provision of new information and advertising materials: distribution and placement of booklets, information leaflets and signs (self-adhesive emblems) of membership in the Foundation in the Tajik and Russian languages.
In total, the events covered 48 regional branches of credit institutions participating in the Fund.
Meetings were held with over 100 employees from head offices and branches of credit institutions. During the meetings, participants were provided with information on the operation of the deposit and savings insurance system, the objects of mandatory insurance, the categories of insured depositors, and the amount and procedure for paying compensation in the event of an insured event.
Participants emphasized the need for mandatory provision of informational materials to clients, especially when concluding agreements for opening deposit and savings accounts.
At the same time, the Fund provided the head offices of banks and their branches with printed information and advertising materials (brochures, information leaflets and self-adhesive emblems of the Fund) for placement in the most visible and accessible places for depositors in credit institutions (in cash desks, on information boards and at the entrances to buildings).
The meetings demonstrated that the basic knowledge of deposit protection mechanisms among credit institution branch employees is satisfactory. In turn, representatives of the credit institutions noted that updated brochures and information leaflets, containing more detailed information, significantly facilitate the process of explaining and providing information to clients.
The regional events strengthened direct interaction between the Fund and the regional branches of participating credit institutions, and also contributed to further increasing public awareness and financial literacy regarding the functioning of the deposit and savings insurance system.
