Meeting with the IMF Mission

On April 4, 2025, as part of the Policy Coordination Instruments (PCI) Program, an International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission visited the Republic of Tajikistan. During this visit, the Chairman of the Tajikistan Deposit and Savings Insurance Fund, Mr. M.K. Asoev, met with the IMF mission, which included Mr. Emrah Sagkol (Senior Financial Expert), Mr. Sergei Dodzin (Chief Economist), Mr. Tongli Zhang (Economist), and Mr. Jami Chiniev (Economist).

The purpose of the IMF mission was to consult with relevant economic entities to monitor and assess the implementation of the Program. The focus was on the country’s economic and financial situation and ensuring sustainable economic growth.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the recommendations from the Financial Sector Stability Review (FSSR) regarding contingency planning and crisis management in case of an insurance event. They also addressed the Fund’s role in maintaining the financial stability of the banking system, its management, the structure of its investment portfolio, changes in legislation and regulations, and the Fund’s cooperation with the National Bank of Tajikistan, among other important issues related to the Fund’s activities. It was emphasized that the Fund operates in accordance with the law to protect the rights and legal interests of depositors and to strengthen public confidence in the banking system.

Additionally, the participants exchanged views on enhancing the Fund’s activities, expanding mutually beneficial cooperation to improve the deposit and savings insurance system, strengthening the Fund’s institutional capacity, and establishing mechanisms to maintain financial stability in the event of a Fund deficit, as well as other matters of mutual interest.

In conclusion, the Chairman of the Fund expressed gratitude to the IMF delegation for their assessment of the deposit and savings insurance system and the recommendations provided. He reiterated the Fund’s readiness for further cooperation with the IMF to enhance the deposit and savings insurance system.
